We have recently changed the sand media in a commercial filter at Pershore Leisure Center.
On opening the filter lid and getting the sand out, we found that the majority of the laterals were broken due to being brittle.
We had to cut the center pipe to get them out! We have replaced them and put in new gravel and sand.
This has now given better filtration, cleaner water and better pressure.
If your sand is 5 years old or more, it's worth getting it changed!
